Philosophical Percy

One rep who was a real identity was Percy. He worked for a rubber company selling tyres in Arizona. It wasn't the greatest territory in the States by any stretch, but Percy had been going round the dealers for so many years that he kept writing top figures for his company year after year.

One time his company's marketing director made a special trip out to see Percy. He commented on the excellent figures Percy continued to write year after year. Percy was philosophical.

"I may not be the greatest tyre salesman in Arizona," he said, "but I'd sure as hell hate to be out here selling tyres against me."
