Polite And Friendly

The boss of a small store in a country town hired a boy to sweep up and run errands. The lad was ambitious and thought that if he was to get on, he should be polite and friendly to his boss. On his second morning, he walked into the store and said cheerfully, 'Good morning, sir! Lovely weather we're having!'

'What's all this "we" business?' said the boss crossly. 'Since when is your name on the sign?'
